This is an oil painting done mostly with palette knife as I felt at the time I wanted a touch of abstract and texture. I live in the mountains of NC and bears are plentiful here having visited my entry deck on several occasions, so the black bear was the initial inspiration as I have painted in watercolor a similar scene with morning fog in the mountain valleys. The canvas size is odd as I have several frames that my father made many years ago when he owned The Louvre Frame Co., his business.
