These dramatic cliffs loom over the sea off the Llyn peninsular of Northwest Wales which reaches out towards Ireland. I went there on a hazy late Summer day armed with my plein air kit. The sea was calm with undulating eddies around the cliff edge and the horizon was almost lost in sea mist under a watery sun.
The steep cliffs of Trefor have been gradually eroding into the sea over millennia, which puts into perspective for me the current drama of every day life.
My preferred painting tool is the palette knife which is perfect for rendering the jagged rock strata.
I love to push thick juicy paint around on the canvas board, mixing colours on the painting surface and palette.
