Perkins Underpass

The Perkins Underpass is a very familiar place to me. It's populated by restaurants, bars, and small locally owned businesses that I have visited many times over the past few years. I went out with another painter who has had similar experiences, and we began working in plein air in spite of the loud, roaring sounds of the interstate above us. I ended up finishing the piece in the studio while still trying to capture the calmness of this unoccupied corner of this busy area.
