Low Tide

The pair of sneakers lay unattended on the shell-strewn shore. Their pale surface glowed bright in the light of an afternoon sun, and drew my interest to them to the exclusion of all else in my surroundings. I liked the idea that such sparse elements as sneakers, sand, and shells conveyed a story that prompted questions while hinting at the barest of clues.
